Neerja Bhatia joined Etihad Airways in 2004 and has since climbed the corporate ladder to her current position, spearheading the award-winning airline’s commercial activities in India, Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal, Seychelles and Sri Lanka.
She oversees one of the most dynamic markets in the world – India – where Etihad Airways is the biggest operator of international scheduled flights with its strategic Indian partner Jet Airways to and from the country than any other airline.
She has been responsible for the successful introduction of Etihad Airways to 11 Indian cities over the years and welcomed the airline’s Airbus A380 to India with its debut on the Abu Dhabi – Mumbai route in May 2016.
In her leadership role, Neerja has played a major part in overseeing the airline’s expansion across her region promoting its products and services to consumers offering greater choice, more convenience and improved connectivity.
She is also responsible for managing relations with Etihad Airways’ equity partners Jet Airways and Air Seychelles in India. Based in Mumbai, Neerja joined Etihad Airways as Sales Manager for Western India, and was promoted to Area Manager Western and Southern India before becoming General Manager India and, last year was elevated to a wider role as Vice President Indian Subcontinent.
Neerja started her career with the multi-disciplined R L Group of Companies in New Delhi before moving to Emirates where she spent 13 years – her last role being Sales Manager North India, based in the capital. She later moved to Mumbai as General Manager Western India with Galileo before joining Etihad Airways.
Mr. Rizwan Soomar, an accomplished leader with a career spanning over two decades in the maritime and logistics sector, spearheads DP World’s operations in the Indian Subcontinent region. He joined DP World in November 2017 and is responsible for driving commercial and operations strategy for the region.
Prior to joining DP World, Mr. Soomar was associated with AP Moller Maersk Group where he held senior leadership roles including Managing Director of the Group’s logistics arm in Egypt as well as Managing Director for Maersk Line - India & Sri Lanka. After his successful stint in these regions, Rizwan took over the role of Vice President and Global COO of Svitzer, Denmark, which operates a fleet of more than 500 vessels across 130 locations.
In 2010 he was featured by a prominent Indian business magazine (Business Today) as one of the 25 top successful executives in India under the age 40. He has also been shortlisted amongst the top 100 leaders, equipped to handle a high revenue by the AP Moller-Maersk Group globally.
He spent around five years in Singapore as the Head of APM Terminals Seaports and Inland logistics investments in South Asia and Head for Commercial function of the Asia – Pacific region. During this tenure, Mr. Soomar also served as the Chairman on the board of Gateway Terminals Mumbai and a Non Executive & Non Independent Director on the boards of Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd, South Asia Gateway Terminals Sri Lanka and Gujarat Pipavav Port Limited.
Rizwan holds an MBA degree from the Chicago Booth School of Business and a Diploma from the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS), London. He has also participated in Executive management programs at INSEAD, Fontainebleau and IMD, Lausanne.

Sharad has been with Emirates NBD Group for last 10+ years, Sharad joined Emirates NBD as head of Trade Sales, Factoring & Escrow Services (Real Estate & Commercial) for Emirates NBD Group in Dubai UAE.
After a stint of about 10 years in Dubai, Sharad moved to India as Chief Representative of Emirates NBD India Representative Office. Recently he has been appointed as the CEO of Emirates NBD’s first branch in Mumbai India which commenced banking operations in July this year.
Sharad has more than 20 years of experience in banking in India and the UAE. Prior to joining Emirates NBD Bank, Sharad was heading Transaction Banking Sales in HSBC Bank Middle East for GCC and HSBC India.
Sharad is an MBA, CFA, CAIIB and holds a Diploma in Business Leadership from Duke University.
